WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?
you can find us in vibrant Newtown in Sydney’s Inner West. we are at the city end of King Street next to Queen Street.
Closest train stations are Macdonald Town (5 minute walk) or Newtown (10 minute walk). There are bus stops outside 1989 and Central Station is about a 5-10 minute ride away. Taxi’s pass along King St frequently. If you fancy driving, King St has a clearway between 3pm – 7pm Monday to Friday, with ticketed street parking outside of those hours. Alternative street parking options close by are Queen, Forbes and Wilson Streets.
Yes! Come see us between 5pm and 7pm every weekday.
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
We opened ’89 for all ages to enjoy! Kids are very welcome on the weekends during our cafe hours. Unfortunately when our liquor hours kick in at 5pm we cannot have anyone under the age of 18 in the venue. Sorry.

WHAT ARCADES ARE ON THE FLOOR?
Check out the full arcade list by clicking the Arcade tab. We change up a couple of games every month so be sure check out our facebook page for regular updates. If you’d like to see your favourite game at 1989 please let us know!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY?
Each arcade costs $1 to play apart from Ghosts’ n Goblins which is on permanent free play next to the bar. Credits vary per machine.
DO YOU HAVE BOARD GAMES?
Yes we do! Check out our collection in the alcoves when you walk into ’89. They are free to play so take your pick!
I JUST SMASHED A HIGH SCORE!
Congrats! We will add your achievement to our high score board in ’89 and on our website. Now grab yourself that free coffee (or beer).
YOUR ARCADE ATE MY $1 AND IS NOW BROKEN (BOO)
Our arcades are as old as the owner (and boy, that’s old!) so they do malfunction from time to time. Please ask a member of staff to fish out your lost change or see if they can fix the problem.
